Candlelight Vigil in Memory of Olivia Erhardt, Abigail Flanagan and Daniella Moffson

January 19, 2016

Members of the Columbia University community will gather Tuesday, January 19 at 6 p.m. on Low Plaza for a candlelight vigil in memory of Olivia Erhardt, Abigail Flanagan, and Daniella Moffson, who perished in a bus accident in Honduras last week. (Read Columbia University President Lee C. Bollinger’s message here.)

The vigil will begin with the tolling of the chapel bells and will include speakers from Columbia College, the School of General Studies, Columbia School of Nursing, and Barnard College. Chaplain Jewelnel Davis will preside and President Bollinger and Barnard President Debora Spar will make remarks.

Earl Hall and the Chapel will be open for gathering afterwards, with counselors available.

Our thoughts remain with those affected by this tragic accident, including students and others, their families and friends.

Those who cannot attend the vigil but desire support can speak to counselors and specialists on the MorningsideBarnard, and Medical Center campuses; pastoral counseling is also available through the Office of the University Chaplain. International students can also seek support or referrals through the International Students and Scholars Office.
