University Life Events & Opportunities
- Apply to Join the University Life Events Council 2024-25! Be a part of shaping the events and activities that connect students across Columbia. We are now accepting applications for next year’s University Life Events Council! Apply by Wednesday, April 24.
- Apply to Become a University Life Ambassador 2024-25! Passionate about building community at Columbia? As a University Life Ambassador, you can help promote a welcoming, inclusive environment for all Columbia students across all campuses. Apply by Friday, May 10.
- Attend the CU Film Showcase (In-Person). Lights, camera, action! Join the University Life Events Council for a screening of short films created by students throughout the University community. Thursday, April 4, 7 - 8:30 p.m. Register here.
- Grad Hangout: Afro-Caribbean Dance Workshop (In-Person). University Life invites you to join us for our final Grad Hangout of the semester! Led by instructors from Cumbe Dance, experience the energy, passion, and community rooted within Afro-Caribbean dances and rhythms. Wednesday, April 17, 2 - 3 p.m. Register here.
- LGBTQIA+ Faculty Roundtable (In-Person). University Life, in partnership with the Office of the Vice Provost for Faculty Advancement, invites you to a roundtable event where Columbia Faculty will share their experiences navigating their identities as members of the LGBTQIA+ community in higher education. - Virtual Yoga Class. Take a break and relax at this yoga class hosted by Religious Life. Classes will take place virtually on Thursday, April 4, 7 - 8 p.m. Register here. In-person classes resume April 11.
- Campus Conversations (In-Person). Learn critical listening skills, manage difficult conversations, and talk about identity. Join a Campus Conversation - you will make a friend, have a real conversation, and build community at Columbia. We’ll be hosting student-led conversations throughout April. Various Times. Social Justice Mini-Grant Spotlight
Learn more about all of the 2023-24 Social Justice Mini-Grantees and their projects.
- Exploring Intersectionality: Caste, Gender & Sexuality (Hybrid). In commemoration of Dalit History Month, join three scholars in exploring how they write about sexuality as Dalit women. This panel was organized by Priya Kodidala, with support from University Life and the Office of Student Affairs Diversity, Equity, Inclusion Committee at SIPA. - Asian Gender Equality Panel (In-Person). This panel featuring Columbia alum, Annie Liang-Zhou and Amanda Phingbodhipakkiya, brings together an artist and a green developer for a discussion spotlighting the prevalent injustices Asian women face. - America’s Mass Incarceration Problem with Taylor Rae Almonte-Roman. As Taylor prepares to graduate with her Masters in Human Rights with a concentration on mass incarceration, she shares some foundational education about America's mass incarceration problem. Listen here.
