Black History Month Events
- Word: Life: An Opinionated Mixtape of Hip Hop Journalism (In-Person). Join Columbia Journalism School for a conference recognizing the 50th anniversary of the block party credited with creating hip hop and the reporters who covered hip hop in its most formative stages. - Graduate Hangout: Black History Month Game Lounge (In-Person) Come enjoy a night of trivia, board games, cards, and fun! In honor of Black History Month, we will be featuring Black-owned and Black-founded games. Snacks will be provided. Thursday, February 22, 5 - 7 p.m. Register here.
- Lenfest Kids: The Wiz (In-Person). Join the Lenfest Center for the Arts for a screening of The Wiz. This family-friendly event is open to the public. Saturday, February 24, 1 - 2:30 p.m. Register here.
- Black and Latinx Roundtable with Columbia Faculty (In-Person). As part of the Graduate Initiative for Inclusion and Engagement, University Life, in partnership with the Office of the Vice Provost for Faculty Advancement, invites graduate and professional school students to a roundtable event where Columbia faculty will share their experiences navigating higher education as members of the Black and Latinx community. LENS Survey - Check Your Email
On February 9, you received an email from Qualtrics/Isobar ([email protected]) inviting you to complete the Columbia LENS (Lived Experiences & Needs of Students) Survey. This is an opportunity for you to let us know how Columbia can support you. By completing the survey, you will also receive a $10 gift card and be entered to win additional prizes.

University Life Events & Opportunities
- Chris Morrongiello, Renaissance Lute (Hybrid). Enjoy an evening of relaxing music in St. Paul’s Chapel or on YouTube. Religious Life is hosting weekly concerts throughout the Spring semester. TONIGHT, February 20, 7 - 8 p.m. Learn more.
- Cultivating Hope (In-Person). Explore how the combination of positive psychology and religious traditions can help you learn to be more hopeful. This event will be hosted by Religious Life. Light refreshments will be served. Monday, February 26, 7 - 8 p.m. Register here.
- Community Lunch (In-Person). Community Impact and Broadway Community invite you to participate in a culinary service opportunity. You'll work alongside Community Lunch's head chef to prepare meals for neighbors in the Morningside Heights community. Want to learn more? - DxD: Lessons from Bridging the American Divides (In-Person). Join Columbia Business School for a conversation about how to provide business leaders with insights into navigating polarization in the workplace and wider society. Lunch will be provided. - If Dreams Were Lightning: Rural Healthcare Crisis (In-Person). Lenfest Center for the Arts will host a screening of, If Dreams Were Lightning: Rural Healthcare Crisis. A conversation between the film’s writer and director, Ramin Bahrani, and Wafaa El-Sadr, will follow. Thursday, February 22, 6:30 - 9 p.m. Register here.
- Situational Awareness Training (Virtual). Public Safety presents a training session on Situational Awareness: being aware of where you are and what is happening around you. Monday, February 26, 11 a.m. - 12 p.m. Register here.
- Ukraine in the Third Year of War (In-Person). The Harriman Institute’s Ukrainian Studies Program invites you to a panel discussion about civilian engagement in the war effort, support for aid to Ukraine in the United States, and how the war has been viewed in other parts of the world.
