Asking for Help
Dear Students,
As you settle into your routine this semester, I write to share resources to support you inside and outside the classroom.
Can I Ask ChatGPT for Help with My Coursework? Get Permission!
Before using artificial intelligence (AI) in your coursework, ask your professor if it’s allowed and always be sure to cite your sources – including AI. Unauthorized use of AI is a violation of academic integrity. There are many alternative academic resources to support you:
- Ask your academic adviser about tutoring and other resources at your school
- Visit Columbia’s Writing Center
- Get support in office hours
- Ask a Librarian or attend a workshop to learn more about research and citations
Andrew Rust on Entrepreneurship and Making Tech Accessible
“I’m trying to pull people up who fell behind – just like me.” -Andrew Rust (SEAS’24)
Growing up, Andrew didn’t have much access to technology education. Now he channels his passion for making tech accessible into ByteSize Learning – a company he founded to improve computer literacy for kids. While at Columbia, he has received support to grow this venture from Columbia Entrepreneurship, Innovation & Design.
