Tomorrow: Citizen-Leaders Event with Obama Scholars, Women’s History Month Trivia, and Other Events and Opportunities, 3/22-4/5

We hope that you’ll join us in person tomorrow, March 23, from 2:30-3:45 PM ET for Citizen-Leaders: A Conversation with the Obama Foundation Scholars. Columbia’s Obama Foundation Scholars will discuss active citizenship and the power to effect change in our communities. Reception to follow with light refreshments.
Celebrating Juneteenth
The University will recognize Juneteenth with a day off for students, faculty, and staff on Monday, June 20. This holiday commemorates the end of slavery in the U.S., which took place on June 19, 1865. You can learn more about its origins and celebration here.

- Women’s History Month Trivia Night: Film Edition (In-Person). Join ULife Events Council and the Graduate Initiative for Inclusion and Engagement for a trivia night with questions based on award-winning actresses, directors, iconic roles, and more! - International Roundtable with Columbia Faculty (In-Person). Hear Columbia faculty share their experiences as international scholars and how they acclimated to the culture of academia in the U.S. This event is part of the Graduate Initiative for Inclusion and Engagement and is open to all students. - Campus Conversations (Hybrid). Connect with students from across the University and engage in meaningful student-facilitated dialogue about identity and inclusion. Make friends, have real conversations, and build community. Food and University Life swag will be provided! Wednesday, March 30 - Thursday, April 28, with in-person and virtual options available. - Love Is Art Competition. Does your art focus on building healthy relationships with both yourself and others? If so, share your artwork for a chance to be featured on our social media channels and win cash prizes. Apply by Thursday, March 31.
- Escape the Zoom (Virtual). Join the ULife Events Council for this virtual escape room experience. Solve a mystery with your team using clues to escape from a land of snow and ice. The first winning teams in each time slot will win virtual gift cards! Friday, April 1, 1:00-8:00 PM. Register here.
- Yoga Class (In-Person). Religious Life offers free yoga classes in Earl Hall every Tuesday evening this semester. No pre-registration is required. Please bring your own mat and arrive 5-10 minutes early to sign in and set up. Tuesdays, 7:00-8:00 PM. Learn more.
- Multi-Faith Fellowship (In-Person). Students from all schools and traditions are welcome to join Religious Life for dinner, discussion, and multi-faith dialogue weekly throughout the semester. Wednesdays, 7:00-8:30 PM. Learn more.

- Apply to Be a University Life Ambassador. Passionate about building community at Columbia? ULife Ambassadors contribute ideas, engage with other student leaders, consult with and assist University Life staff, promote events, and more. Applications due Monday, March 28.
- Apply to Join the University Life Events Council. Want to help plan fun events on campus and gain leadership experience? The University Life Events Council is made up of students from all schools who plan activities to create community across Columbia’s schools and campuses. Apply by Sunday, April 3. - Such Sweet Thunder: Ellington Plays Shakespeare (In-Person). Conceived by Robert G. O’Meally, Zora Neale Hurston Professor of English and Comparative Literature and Director, Center for Jazz Studies, this series of public programs across the arts, culture, and the Core Curriculum is inspired by the “tone parallel” between William Shakespeare and the Duke Ellington Orchestra’s Shakespearean suite Such Sweet Thunder. - Roundtable Series: Writing Lives Across Languages and Cultures (Virtual). The School of Social Work (CSSW) invites you to this roundtable discussion featuring CSSW faculty and students who will speak on their experiences writing in more than one language and across cultures.
