University Life Opportunities and Events (All Events in ET)
- Get the Scoop: University Life Events Council Virtual Information Session. Interested in helping to plan events around campus? Learn about the University Life Events Council! Open to all students. Tuesday, 9/28, 6:00-7:00 PM. Register here.
- Yoga Class. Join Religious Life for a free yoga class every Wednesday throughout Fall semester! Please bring your own mat and arrive 10 minutes early to reserve your spot, there is a 20-person maximum. Begins Wednesday, 9/29, 7:00-8:00 PM. See more upcoming classes here.
- Racial Justice Mini-Grant Program. Have an idea that promotes racial justice? Applications for the Racial Justice Mini-Grant Program are open! Last year, the RJMG program supported 27 grantees who created podcasts, lectures, workshops, and other projects focused on advancing racial justice. Interested in learning more? Applications are due by 10/1.
- Campus Conversations. Meet students across the University to engage in student-facilitated dialogue about identity and inclusion! Monday, October 4 through Tuesday, November 2. Times and locations vary. Learn more and register here.
- Virtual HIIT Class. Grab your yoga mat and join Columbia Physical Education and Recreation for a virtual High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) session. Wednesday, 10/6, 3:00-4:00 PM. Register here.
- Beyond the Thesis: Nonfiction Publishing for Scholars. The Center for Nonfiction, in partnership with University Life and The Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, invites you to a panel discussion with publishing industry insiders. Learn about the ways nonfiction books are developed, sold and marketed. You’ll also get insight into how to research the marketplace, develop an idea, and become a published author. - Morningside Park Clean-up and Picnic. Join the University Life Events Council and Friends of Morningside Park to help clean up the park before enjoying a free picnic. Check-in begins at 10:00 AM at Low Plaza. Saturday, October 9, 10:00 AM-1:00 PM. Register here.

- World Leaders Forum: Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus. Join the Mailman School of Public Health for a discussion with Director-General of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, on lessons learned from COVID-19 and how we can prepare for the next century of public health threats. - REX Seminar: Minority Student Research Experiences. The Center for Research on People of Color, a hub for scholarly work on health equity and justice, is hosting this month's Research Experience (REX) seminar, which will discuss students’ findings from their summer research internships with REX, best practices in proposal development and grant submission, as well as research opportunities.
