Dear Students,
We hope to see you on Tuesday, March 8, from 3:30-5:00 PM for the next University Life Forum: Listening to Your Anxiety. Join in person and meet other students or watch online to learn from renowned anxiety expert Dr. Anne Marie Albano, Professor of Medical Psychology (in Psychiatry) at Columbia. Light refreshments will be provided and free swag will be available on a first-come, first-served basis
Under the Key to NYC requirements, dining and entertainment events require proof of vaccination at the door. For any in-person event listed below, please be prepared to provide proof of vaccination and a picture ID.
All events listed below are free of charge and open to all students unless otherwise noted.
Support Space for Individuals Affected by the War in Ukraine. Counseling and Psychological Services is offering a support space for students from all campuses who have family and/or friends affected by the war in Ukraine. Wednesday, March 2, 6:00-7:00 PM. Register here.
Support for CUIMC Students During Global Uncertainty. Student Health on Haven recognizes the impact that Russia's invasion of Ukraine may have on you. War, violence, and political uncertainty can cause stress, anxiety, numbness, and many other responses as we try to process these events. Counseling Services offers one-on-one Support Sessions for CUIMC students who may want to speak with a clinician. 24/7 counseling support for CUIMC students is available via chat and phone through CUIMC My SSP. - CU Film Showcase: Call for Student Films. The University Life Events Council wants to showcase student-created short films. Want your film to be a part of this showcase? Make sure to sign up here by Sunday, March 6, The Film Showcase will take place virtually on Friday, April 7.
- Hybrid Cardio Kickboxing Class. If you’re ready for a break from studying, join us and Columbia PEREC for a free hybrid cardio kickboxing class for all levels. Friday, March 11, 2:00-3:00 PM. Registration is required.
- Apply to Be a University Life Ambassador. Passionate about building community at Columbia? ULife Ambassadors contribute ideas, engage with other student leaders, consult with and assist University Life staff, promote events, and more. Applications are due by Monday, March 21.
- Yoga Class. Religious Life is offering free yoga classes in Earl Hall every Tuesday evening this semester. No pre-registration is required. Please bring your own mat and arrive 5-10 minutes early to sign in and set up. Tuesdays, 7:00-8:00 PM. Learn more.
- Multi-Faith Fellowship. Students from all schools and traditions are welcome to join Religious Life for dinner, discussion, and multi-faith dialogue weekly throughout the semester. Wednesdays, 7:00-8:30 PM. Learn more.

- 2022 Columbia Global Freedom of Expression Prize Ceremony. Join Columbia Global Freedom of Expression for an awards ceremony recognizing judicial decisions and legal representation around the world that strengthen freedom of expression by promoting international legal norms. The Mailman School of Public Health invites you to a panel discussion, exploring the tenets of intersectional theory and the necessity of taking an intersectional approach to research, policy, and practice in public health. - Restorative Yoga + Meditation. Need a moment to reset and clear your mind as you head into midterms? Join Columbia PEREC for this gentle hybrid yoga and meditation session. Wednesday, March 2, 10:00-11:00 AM. Register here.
- Affordable Housing: An Essential for Health Equality. Join the Mailman School of Public Health for the next installment of their Centennial Distinguished Speakers Series as they discuss the impact of affordable housing on health equity. Wednesday, March 2, 4:00-5:00 PM. Register here.
- Identity and Inclusion Series: Disability Justice. This workshop will help you learn about manifestations of ableism on campus and beyond and examine the ways in which you can help create a more accessible and anti-ableist environment. Thursday, March 3, 1:00-3:00 PM. Register here.
- Reparations for Racial Discrimination in the U.S. Join the Holder Initiative and The Amendment Project (TAP) for a discussion on the growing movement for reparation for slavery and legalized forms of racial segregation and discrimination in the United States. - Going from Micro-aggressions to Micro-interventions. CUIMC and the VP&S Office of Diversity and Multicultural Affairs present this workshop with Dr. Derald Wing Sue, professor of psychology and education at Teachers College, focused on microaggressions in the workplace and how to effectively intervene. - Complex Issues: “Intimate Apparel”. Lenfest Center for the Arts presents playwright Lynn Nottage and composer/musician Ricky Ian Gordon for a discussion on their transformation of Nottage’s 2003 play Intimate Apparel into opera, as well as other recent collaborations. - Millennium Fellowship Class of 2022 Application. The Millennium Fellowship is a semester-long leadership development program for undergraduate students.
