We hope you can take advantage of some of the opportunities listed below ahead of Commencement.

University Life Events & Opportunities
All events listed below are in Eastern Time (ET), free, and open to all students across all schools and campuses.

  • Study Days (In-Person). Earl Hall Auditorium will be open during the day as a dedicated study space. Stop by to focus, recharge, and enjoy complimentary tea and snacks. Hours vary. Tuesday, May 6 - Thursday, May 15. Learn more.
  • Baccalaureate Service (In-Person). All undergraduate degree candidates and their family and friends are invited to attend the annual Baccalaureate Service, a multi-faith celebration of undergraduate commencement. Service highlights include musical performances, reflections, and readings by students from diverse faith traditions. Sunday, May 18, 10:00 - 11:15 a.m. Register here.
  • Apply to the University Life Events Council. Are you full of ideas and love bringing people together? Apply to the University Life Events Council and help create signature Columbia traditions like Speed Friending, Low-Lapalooza: Silent Disco, and Passport to Columbia. This volunteer opportunity is a great way to build community, meet students from across all schools, and gain valuable leadership experience. Apply here or learn more by emailing [email protected].   • Become a 2025 - 2026 University Life Ambassador. Passionate about building community at Columbia? As a University Life Ambassador, you can help promote a welcoming and inclusive environment for all Columbia students across our four campuses (Morningside, CUIMC, Manhattanville, and Lamont) and be a part of the many events and initiatives University Life offers.   • The Food Pantry at Columbia: Student Leadership Board Openings. The Food Pantry serves all currently registered students across all Columbia schools, colleges, and affiliates.   • The 2025 Frank A. Calderone Prize in Public Health Lecture (Hybrid). Listen to Dr. Jonathan M. Samet, Professor of Epidemiology and Environmental and Occupational Health and recipient of the 2025 Frank A. Calderone Prize in Public Health, for an insightful lecture on his work in Public Health.
