Dear Students,
We hope you’ll join us for Low Lounge: Snowed-in Self Care this Sunday, December 8 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The University Life Events Council is transforming the Low Library Rotunda into the ultimate study break spot! Come for student performances, a photo booth, DIY wellness kits and snow globe crafts, hot cocoa, a dessert station, yoga, and more.
*RSVP encouraged but not required. All event treats and crafts are first-come, first-served as supplies last.

University Life Events and Opportunities
- Apply to Become a Campus Conversations Leader! Students who are selected to participate in our leadership development program will receive awards of up to $500 and training to build the necessary skills to engage in and hold space for difficult conversations impacting students across campus. This is a great opportunity to build inclusive leadership skills, become a better listener, and gain experience with group discussions. Learn more and apply by December 6.
- Student Crafting Corner (In-Person). Take a study break and get creative in Lerner Hall, Room 555. Create unique holiday decorations or color in coloring books that feature some of the iconic locations around Columbia’s campuses. Drop by any of the following times:
- Study Days in Earl Hall (In-Person). Need space to study this finals season? Earl Hall Auditorium is available as a quiet study spot with tea and snacks available throughout the day. Tuesday, December 10 - Thursday, December 19, times vary. Learn more.
- Chapel Cinema: It's a Wonderful Life (In-Person). Religious Life will be hosting a movie screening of It's a Wonderful Life (1946) in St. Paul's Chapel. Enjoy a study break as you watch this classic film. Wednesday, December 11, 8 - 10:15 p.m. Register here.
- Sacred Music Concert (Hybrid). Religious Life is hosting sacred music concerts throughout the Fall semester. Find a moment for quiet reflection and beautiful music.
- Yoga Class (In-Person). Take a break and relax with yoga in Earl Hall hosted by Religious Life. Please bring your own mat and arrive 10 minutes early to sign in and set up! Thursdays through December 12, 7 - 8 p.m. Learn more.

- Morningside Tree Lighting (In-Person). Join the Student Councils for Barnard College, Columbia College, the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, and the School of General Studies outside on College Walk for the Annual Tree Lighting. Thursday, December 5, festivities begin at 5 p.m. and ceremony begins at 6 p.m. Learn More.

- "The Stadium": A Conversation with Frank A. Guridy (In-Person). Please join the Holder Initiative for a discussion of Professor Guridy's new book, The Stadium: An American History of Politics, Protest, and Play. - Greater Good Challenge 2024 (Virtual). Students, alumni, and professionals worldwide will team up to pitch bold business ideas tackling our city’s, nation’s, and planet’s toughest challenges. - The Librarian of Rikers: Cartoons, Books, and Narratives in the Age of Mass Incarceration (Hybrid). This conversation between a librarian in academia and a librarian involved in providing book cart services at Rikers Island will highlight barriers to information accessibility in the justice system and how to bridge the gap from university archives to public resources. - Louis Armstrong Program Jazz Concert with Special Guest Peter Evans (In-Person). Enjoy a Friday evening concert at The Forum, featuring Peter Evans. Evans is a composer, trumpet player, bandleader and educator based in New York City, who’s been the recipient of awards and commissions worldwide including the Guggenheim Fellowship in 2022.
