Under the Key to NYC requirements, dining and entertainment events require proof of vaccination at the door. For any in-person event listed below, please be prepared to provide proof of vaccination and a picture ID.
University Life Opportunities and Events (All events in ET)
- Yoga Class. Religious Life is offering free yoga classes in Earl Hall every Tuesday evening during the Spring 2022 semester. No pre-registration required. Please bring your own mat and arrive 5-10 minutes early to sign in and set up. Tuesdays, 7:00-8:00 PM. Learn more.
- Multi-Faith Fellowship. Students from all schools and traditions are welcome to join Religious Life for dinner, discussion, and multi-faith dialogue weekly throughout the semester. Wednesdays, 7:00-8:30 PM. Learn more.
- Grab-n-Go Succulent Study Break. Drop by to grab a faux succulent plant, a ceramic pot, and decorations to take home! Open to all students, while supplies last. Friday, 2/11, 4:00-5:00 PM. Register here.
- Black History Month Film Screening: King Richard. The University Life Events Council invites you to a virtual screening of King Richard, the true story of an undeterred father raising two of the most extraordinarily gifted athletes of all time: Venus and Serena Williams. Please note that this is an update to the previously announced Black History Month Film Screening. Information on how to access the film will be emailed to you 12 hours before the event. - Hybrid Anti-Valentine's Day HIIT Fitness Class. Join us for a high-intensity interval training (HIIT) class featuring anti-Valentine's music on Zoom or in person! Monday, 2/14, 10:00-11:00 AM. Register on Zoom or in person.
- Day of Service. Want to play a part in transcribing historic documents from the Smithsonian to make them more accessible? Join the University Life Events Council and the Smithsonian Institution's Transcription Center to transcribe records from the Freedman's Bureau. Limited spots available for in-person volunteers, with opportunities to join remotely. More information about the event will be shared in confirmation emails. Friday, 2/18, 12:00-2:00 PM. - Success Workshop: Overcoming Impostor Syndrome. What is Impostor Syndrome? Why do so many students experience this feeling of inadequacy? In partnership with Columbia Health, this program will discuss the signs and causes of Imposter Syndrome and provide exercises designed to help students feel more confident in their abilities at Columbia and beyond. - Climate and Health Responder Course. This free, 8-week virtual training course on climate and health is geared toward health professionals, but students are welcome to attend. 2/8-4/5. Register here.
- Flee: Addressing the Emotional Legacy of a Refugee’s Forced Journey. Columbia Global Centers, with Undergraduate Global Engagement, present an interview and discussion with the director of the animated documentary Flee along with experts on forced migration. - Charles R Drew Black History Month Blood Drives. Columbia is hosting the annual Black History Month blood drives in honor of Dr. Drew who, in 1940, became the first African American to not only earn a Medical Science doctorate from Columbia, but also the first African-American to do so in the United States. Blood donors must have a Green pass and make an appointment. Morningside Campus: Wednesday, 2/9, 11:00 AM-5:00 PM. Columbia Law School: Thursday, 2/10, 10:00 AM-4:00 PM. - Unconscious Bias Workshop. Through presentation, discussion, and interactive dialogue exercises, this workshop from Multicultural Affairs offers an overview of unconscious bias, the neural processes that guide our snap judgments, and strategies for mitigating implicit assumptions. - A Conversation with Provost Mary Boyce & Pulitzer Prize-Winner Natalie Angier. This Barnard Year of Science Spring Semester Kickoff Event features a conversation with Provost Mary Boyce and Pulitzer Prize-Winner Natalie Angier about Provost Boyce’s research and her professional journey, women in engineering, and the importance of diversifying the STEM workforce. - Alumni in Conversation: Recruitment and Hiring Managers. Join General Studies alumni who work as recruiters and hiring managers as they share advice on how to navigate your job search or professional pivot. - Situational Awareness for Students. Public Safety presents a training on Situational Awareness: being aware of where you are and to what is happening around you. You will learn to be alert to potential threats to your health and safety and be cognizant of emergency exits and other paths to safety. Monday, 2/14, 4:00-5:00 PM. Register here.
- Tamer Fund for Social Ventures Information Sessions. The Tamer Fund for Social Ventures provides grants of up to $25,000 for social and environmental ventures. Learn more about the application process and deadlines at these information sessions. Thursday, 2/17, 6:00-6:45 PM. Register here.
- Columbia University Medical School Fair. Prospective medical students: hear from more than 20 medical schools and healthcare programs over the next few weeks. Through Saturday, 4/2. Register here.
- Millennium Fellowship Class of 2022 Application. The Millennium Fellowship is a semester-long leadership development program for undergraduate students. The application for the 2022 cohort is now open and applying by the priority deadline is strongly encouraged. Priority Deadline: Monday, 2/28. Final application deadline: Thursday, 3/31. Apply here.
