Take a look at the many exciting events in the next two weeks, as well as a brief update about Summer health insurance enrollment.
University Life Events (All events are ET)
- Summer Fitness Class Series: Outdoor Zumba. Get moving with a fun in-person fitness class, led by PEREC instructor Celeste! Zumba mixes low and high-intensity moves for an interval-style, calorie-burning dance fitness party! All fitness levels are welcome. Thursday, 6/24, 12:00-1:00 PM. Register here.
- Witnessing: Gender-Expansive Experiences and Practices with the Arts. Join us for a student-led discussion and reflection on artists who are redefining our perspective of gender within the arts. - Graduate Initiative: You got the job. Now what? Join staff from across Columbia for a Graduate Initiative Success Workshop focused on career readiness and self-development skills for first-generation college students navigating their first job, internship or fellowship. - Interschool Governing Board (IGB) Executive Board applications. Get involved and make an impact at Columbia! All students are now eligible to run for positions on the IGB Executive Board. Apply by 6/27!
University-wide Events and Opportunities
- Activism, the Arts, and LGBTQ+ Rights in the Middle East and North Africa Region. Participants will discuss the role and impact of LGBTQ resistance, solidarity and visibility in challenging current institutional politics and in the dominant culture in this webinar from Global Centers. - Trajectories in Contemporary Gospel (1980s–present). This session of the Religion and the History of Black Music series focuses on the years that follow the period typically considered to be the Gospel genre’s “golden age.” Wednesday, 6/23, 6:00-7:00 PM. Register here.

- Pose Episode Watch Party. The Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, the Office of Student Life, and the Action for Black Lives Initiative at the School of Social Work invite you to celebrate Pride with a Pose watch party featuring Morticia Godiva (she/her) a Black womxn of trans experience writer and performer based in New York. - The Deluge: On the human costs of rising sea levels. The Forum and the Columbia Graduate School of Journalism present an exhibit by photojournalist and Global Visiting Fellow, Kadir van Lohuizen / NOOR, featuring photographs illustrating the consequences of climate change in communities across the globe. Important Update
- Please remember that Summer insurance enrollment ends June 30. Waivers (domestic students) or exceptions (international students), enrollment of dependents and confirmation of insurance enrollment are due at that time. Students can confirm enrollment on SSOL and submit waiver/exception requests on the Columbia Health Patient Portal.
