On the Terrorist Attacks in Christchurch, New Zealand

Dear Columbia Community,

We are deeply saddened by the horrific terrorist attacks that took place yesterday at the Al Noor and Linwood mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand. We condemn this devastating violence against the Muslim community and grieve for the many people slain and injured.

For many in our community, witnessing this anti-Muslim attack and other hateful violence directed at people based on faith and identity, here and abroad, can provoke fear and insecurity. In these challenging times it is especially important that we affirm our community as one that values the fundamental dignity of all. 

There will be a vigil at 2:30 pm today in Earl Hall to support one another and honor those lost in this tragedy. All are welcome.
