University Life Events & Opportunities
All events listed below are in Eastern Time (ET), free, and open to all students across all schools and campuses.
- Yoga Class (In-Person). Take a break to relax and refresh with yoga in Earl Hall, offered every Thursday evening during the fall 2025 semester. Please bring your own mat and arrive 10 minutes early to set up; doors close at 6:35 p.m. Thursday, October 2, 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. Register here.
- Coffee, Conversation, and Spirituality (In-Person). Explore life, meaning, and purpose over breakfast with Religious Life. No beliefs required, just bring your sense of connection and curiosity. Friday, October 3, 10:00 - 11:30 a.m. Register here.
- Drop-In Hours: Earl Hall (Hybrid). Student life can be intense. Stop by Earl Hall or request a Zoom link for spiritual care and support. Sessions are open to all students, whether you’re religious, spiritual, questioning, or none of the above. Tuesday, October 7, 3:00 - 6:00 p.m. Learn more.
- Community Connections: A Celebration of LGBTQIA+ History Month (In-Person). Looking to meet new people, make friends, and enjoy some good vibes? Join The Graduate Initiative for a celebration of LGBTQIA+ History Month to connect with fellow students, enjoy light refreshments, and build community. All students are welcome. - Sunset Salsa (In-Person). Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with a salsa class led by world-renowned salsa instructor Talia Castro-Pozo and in collaboration with the International Students and Scholars Office (ISSO). - Sacred Music Concert: Magdalena Baczewska (In-Person). Head to St. Paul’s Chapel to hear Magdalena Baczewska present harpsichord works by Élisabeth Jacquet de La Guerre, François Couperin, and J.S. Bach. Thursday, October 9, 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. Register here.
- Apply to become a Campus Conversations Facilitator. Want to create spaces of connection and understanding at Columbia? Apply to be a Campus Conversations Facilitator and build skills in active listening, navigating tough conversations, and exploring identity in meaningful ways. This is a paid opportunity. - Italian Academy Fellows' Seminars — #1 (In-Person). Attend a seminar at The Italian Academy, moderated by Jorge Otero-Pailos, Director and Professor of Historic Preservation, with Weinberg Fellow Sebastian Meyer-von Köckritz, who will share about a unique state-funded architectural project in late 1920s Berlin. - Columbia Con — Latinos in Comics! (In-Person). Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with Caribbean refreshments, a panel featuring acclaimed Latinx creators Edgardo Miranda-Rodríguez, Elisa Féliz, Alex Segura, and host Dr. Nick J. - Revitalization of Indigenous Languages and Arts Across the Americas (In-Person). Join Eduardo de la Cruz, Manuela Tahay, Dare Turner, and Derek Martinez for a panel to learn how Indigenous craft and languages shape communities, culture, and land, and how these traditions are being revived today. - Defending My Enemy: A Conversation With Aryeh Neier (Hybrid). Co-sponsored by the ACLU and Knight First Amendment Institute, join Aryeh Neier, former ACLU national director, for a conversation on the landmark Skokie Case, free speech, and its relevance today, with Jameel Jaffer and introductory remarks from Anthony D. As part of the Art + Life series, hosted by the Undergraduate Creative Writing Program, author Jennifer Hope Choi will discuss her work and writing life in an intimate conversation with Assistant Professor Jaquira Díaz.
