  • Ambedkar Law Lectures: Reading Fanon (In-Person). Learn about Frantz Fanon at this lecture featuring Professor Kwame Anthony Appiah and commentators from Columbia and Yale. They will explore Fanon’s writings on colonialism, revolution, justice, governance, and equality. Tuesday, September 24, 5 - 6:30 p.m. Register here.
  • Democracy Beyond Elections (In-Person). Join Columbia World Projects for a panel discussion about citizens’ assemblies with experts who have implemented these bodies at the local, regional, and national levels. Thursday, September 26, 11 a.m. - 12 p.m. Register here.
  • American Diva: Extraordinary, Unruly, Fabulous (In-Person) ​​What does it mean to be a “diva”? Explore this shifting and loaded term with writing professors Deborah Paredez and Margo Jefferson as they discuss Paredez’s new book. Thursday, September 26, 6:30 - 8 p.m. Register here.
  • Lenfest Kids: Honey, I Blew Up the Kid (In-Person). The Lenfest Center for the Arts hosts a screening of the sequel to Honey, I Shrunk the Kids. The movie follows Scientist Wayne Szalinski,who accidentally causes his two-year-old  to grow over 100 feet tall, leaving the family to chase after him and try to return him to normal.   • Pop-Up Concerts: Richard Carrick, L'Algérie (In-Person). Tune in to a free concert featuring the ensemble, Either/Or, at Miller Theatre for the New York premiere of L'Algérie (2024) by French composer Richard Carrick. Listen to how Algerian, Arabic, and Cantoral cultural influences blend together to create rich and layered melodies. Tuesday, October 1, 6 - 7:30 p.m. Learn more.
  • Francophone Short Films in Harlem (In-Person). Watch six Francophone short films (with English subtitles) followed by a Q&A with filmmaker/producer Johanna Makabi and professor Binita Mehta. This event is organized by the Francophone Short Film Festival and Columbia Maison Française. Tuesday, October 1, 6 - 8 p.m. Register here.
