  • Cozy Carter: A Celebration of Love & Music (In-Person). Join University Life for a mix of Valentine's Day themes with Beyoncé's Renaissance and Cowboy Carter eras. It's a celebration of love, creativity, empowerment, and the rich aesthetic of Beyoncé's latest music. Think of it as a space for craft-making, delicious treats, and a moment to unwind.   • Understanding the Legal Landscape for DACA and Undocumented People (Virtual). Join us for a conversation with immigration attorney Dan Berger about the current legal landscape for DACA and undocumented people in the US.   • Vibes on College Walk: Performer Sign-up. The Campus Collaborative Fund (CCF) is excited to introduce the College Walk Live Music Series, which aims to turn College Walk into a vibrant performance space, bringing light and energy as we inch closer to the spring.   • Sacred Music Concerts (Hybrid). Join Religious Life’s free, weekly concert series in St. Paul’s Chapel. Learn more and register for an upcoming concert.

  • Medicine Grand Rounds: Young-Onset Colorectal Cancer: Understanding the Rise (Hybrid). Join Associate Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School, Kimmie Ng, MD, MPH, for a discussion on the rise in young-onset colorectal cancer diagnoses.   • Carrying the Torch: Honoring Our Past and Shaping Our Future (In-Person). On December 14, 2020, Sandra Lindsay, Vice President at Northwell Health, made history as the first person in the United States to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. Join the Climate School’s Fashion, Energy, and Climate Network and Yale’s Moving the Needle for this event, which brings together students, researchers, and industry professionals to explore the intersection of design and sustainability.   • All in the Family: Disability Lineage and the Future of Genetic Testing (Virtual). The Division of Narrative Medicine welcomes Dr. Jennifer Natalya Fink for the February installment of Narrative Medicine Rounds.   • Counter-Extremism in the University: On the Temporality of Care (In-Person). The Society of Fellows and Heyman Center for the Humanities welcomes Dr. Niyousha Bastani to discuss “Prevent,” a counter-extremism policy that is required to be implemented at universities across the UK and has been widely criticized by human rights organizations and grassroots groups for perpetuating racist surveillance.   • Negotiating with the Devil: Inside the World of Armed Conflict Mediation (In-Person). Join Maison Française and author Pierre Hazan for a discussion on the evolving challenges of mediation and conflict resolution, drawing from his experiences in Bosnia, Ukraine, the Sahel, and the Central African Republic. Hazan will explore ethical dilemmas—such as negotiating with war criminals or terrorists—and examine how mediation must adapt to emerging conflicts, cyber warfare, AI, and shifting global dynamics.   • Coping and Support Space for Students Impacted by the Los Angeles Fires (Virtual). Columbia Health Counseling & Psychological Services is hosting a confidential support space to help those impacted by the fires in Los Angeles. This group will discuss the devastating effects of the fires, normalizing emotions, and provide practical coping tools in a non-judgmental environment. Friday, February 7th, 12:00 p.m. Learn more.
  • Dr. Charles Drew Black History Month Blood Drive (In-Person). Dr. Charles R. Drew, M.D. (VP&S’40) was the first African American to not only earn a Medical Science doctorate (MSD) from Columbia, but also the first African-American to do so in the US. Celebrate Black History Month and save lives by donating blood this month.   • The New Perspectives in Jewish Studies Lecture with Tafat HaCohen-Bick (Hybrid). Join the Institute for Israel and Jewish Studies for this lecture entitled Can a Musarnik tell a story? Aesthetics, Musar, and the Birth of Literature. Dr. HaCohen-Bick examines the overlooked intersections between Musar and modern Hebrew literature. This series of interactive diversity and inclusion workshops, hosted by Multicultural Affairs, focuses on building a socially conscious community.
