University Life Events and Opportunities
- Student Crafting Corner (In-Person). Take a study break and get creative in Lerner Hall, Room 555. Create unique holiday decorations or color in coloring books that feature some of the iconic locations around Columbia’s campuses. Drop by:
- Study Days in Earl Hall (In-Person). Need space to study this finals season? Earl Hall Auditorium is available as a quiet study spot with tea and snacks available throughout the day. TODAY, December 10 - Thursday, December 19, times vary. Learn more.
- Chapel Cinema: It's a Wonderful Life (In-Person). Religious Life will be hosting a movie screening of It's a Wonderful Life (1946) in St. Paul's Chapel. Enjoy a study break as you watch this classic film. Wednesday, December 11, 8 - 10:15 p.m. Register here.
- Sacred Music Concert (Hybrid). Religious Life is hosting sacred music concerts throughout the Fall semester. Find a moment for quiet reflection and beautiful music.
- Yoga Class (In-Person). Take a break and relax with yoga in Earl Hall hosted by Religious Life. Please bring your own mat and arrive 10 minutes early to sign in and set up! Thursday, December 12, 7 - 8 p.m. (Last yoga class in Earl Hall of the semester!) Learn more.
Happening Around Campus
- Listening Tables by Trust Collaboratory (In-Person). Join the Trust Collaboratory in John Jay Dining Hall for a free lunch and conversation. Listening tables are a space for dialogue about difficult and polarizing topics. Participants set the agenda, and everyone is welcome. Thursday, December 12, 11:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Learn more.
- Reflections on Having an Inspired Impact (In-Person). Join the Center for Veteran Transition and Integration and the Women Veterans of Columbia University for a networking lunch and talk by Dr. Loretta Brady. Dr. Brady will explore how women leaders can navigate trauma and challenges and the importance of collaboration for fostering systemic change. Wednesday, December 11, 2 - 4 p.m. Register Here.
- Dana Burton - Life and the NASA Ranger Missions to the Moon (Hybrid). Tune into the New York History of Science Lecture Series at the NYU Gallatin School of Individualized Study with Assistant Professor Dana Burton, where she will discuss the biopolitical effects of NASA’s Ranger Program during the 1960s and what it means for impending missions to the moon. - Build Your Own Contact Mics (In-Person). The Music & Arts Library and Libraries Digital Scholarship invites you to their last Music Tech Workshop of the semester in Prentis Hall, where you can learn how to solder your own contact mic! Saturday, December 14, 2 - 4 p.m. Learn more.
- Dreidels & Donuts (In-Person). Join the Jewish Cultural Employee Resource Group on Haven Plaza to celebrate Hanukkah with dreidels and donuts. Monday, December 16, 12:30 - 2:30 p.m. Learn more.
- "Trans Dudes with Lady Cancer" Film Screening (In-Person). The LGBTQ+ Employee Resource Group invites you to a screening of “Trans Dudes with Lady Cancer,” a short film that follows two transmasculine people navigating breast cancer and ovarian cancer, followed by a Q&A with the filmmakers and subjects.
