Build Connections with the Community Citizenship Initiative
The events below are designed to help you fulfill Community Citizenship Initiative (CCI) participation requirements. CCI is required for all newly enrolled students and optional for others.

  • Peace & Presence: Coping Skills for Safety & Connection (Virtual). Explore how our autonomic nervous system reacts to stressors and trauma with Counseling and Psychological Services. Thursday, November 6, 12:00 - 1:30 p.m. Register here.
  • Managing Conflict: Leading with Courage and Care (In-Person). Learn practical tools and strategies to approach challenging conversations thoughtfully, manage disagreements constructively, and lead with respect and cultural awareness. Learn more
  • Courageous Conversations (In-Person). Join this workshop developed by LeaderShape, Inc, for a session designed to help participants engage in honest, respectful, and authentic conversations across differences. Thursday, November 12, 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. Register here
  • Orientalism, Enlightenment, and Human Endarkenment (In-Person). Join us for a lecture exploring how Orientalism is not just prejudice of West against East but that it functions at a deep structural level and stems from an epistemology that constituted the Enlightenment itself.   • Leading and Engaging in Society – Creating Positive Change (In-Person). Reflect on your impact as a global citizen and an agent of positive social change in this workshop geared to help you strengthen your skills in empathy, collaboration, and community engagement.

  • Dance Fitness Series: Lyrical (In-Person). Experience the artistry of lyrical dance in a special, beginner-friendly workshop led by staff from the renowned Alvin Ailey School of Dance.   • Citizen-Leaders: A Conversation with the Obama Foundation Scholars (In-Person).  In collaboration with Columbia World Projects, University Life is proud to host the 2025 Obama Foundation Scholars at Columbia University for a discussion on how they use leadership, innovation, and collaboration to drive meaningful change.   • Community Connections: Celebrating the First Gen Graduate Experience (In-Person). Join the Graduate Initiative for a Wicked-themed Community Connections event centering the experiences and achievements of Columbia’s first-generation graduate students.   • Fill the Pantry Fridays at Community Impact. Help us keep every shelf stocked! Every Friday, from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m., the Community Impact Food Pantry is accepting donations to help support our neighbors. Center for Student Success and Intervention Events & Opportunities

  • Advisors: Your Go-To Guides! When your student group goes through the formal Student Group Accountability Review Board (SGARB) process, you can have your advisor help you navigate things along the way. Advisors can be staff or professors, but here’s the deal: they’re there to support and guide, not to speak for your group. Think of them as your calm coach, helping you stay grounded and prepared, while you take the lead in representing your group! Learn more.
  • CSSI Online Puzzle Search (Online). Explore the many resources and support services CSSI offers through a fun, interactive online scavenger hunt.
