University Life Events & Opportunities
All events listed below are in Eastern Time (ET), free, and open to all students across all schools and campuses.

  • Drop-In Hours: Earl Hall (Hybrid). Student life can be intense. Stop by Earl Hall or request a Zoom link for spiritual care and support. Sessions are open to all students, whether you’re religious, spiritual, questioning, or none of the above. Today, October 14, 3:00 - 6:00 p.m. Learn more.
  • Letters to Sage (In-Person). Partner with SAGE this LGBTQIA+ History Month by writing letters to LGBTQIA+ elders in the Bronx and Brooklyn whose advocacy and resilience have impacted generations. Thursday, October 16, 3:00 - 4:30 p.m. Register here.
  • Yoga Class (In-Person). Take a break to relax and refresh with yoga in Earl Hall, offered every Thursday evening during the fall 2025 semester. Please bring your own mat and arrive 10 minutes early to set up; doors close at 6:35 p.m. Thursday, October 16, 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. Register here.

  • Deal Me In: A Card Game Social (In-Person). Come hang out and play a round of cards with new friends. Whether you’re into Spades, Crazy Eights, Slapjack, or any other favorite, this is your chance to mingle, relax, and build community. Friday, October 24, 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Register here.
  • Park Clean Up (CUIMC) (In-Person). Enjoy an afternoon outdoors with peers and help keep Fort Tryon Park beautiful. After the cleanup, plan for a casual picnic in the park to unwind and connect with others. Sunday, October 26, 12:00 - 2:00 p.m. Register here.
  • Take the Stage: Applications Now Open for Low Lounge Performers. The 8th Annual Low Lounge returns Tuesday, December 9, 3:00–7:00 p.m. and we're inviting student performers to help make this Columbia favorite the cozy, creative escape we all need during finals season. Build Connections with the Community Citizenship Initiative
The events below are designed to help students fulfill their Community Citizenship Initiative (CCI) participation requirements. CCI is required for all newly enrolled students and optional for others.

  • Knowing, Being, and Doing: Understanding Yourself as a Leader (In-Person). Discover your leadership style, explore your personal strengths, and connect with others in this interactive workshop from the Community Citizenship Initiative. Learn more.
  • Visit to the Museum of the City of New York (In-Person). Step into the stories that have shaped New York City! Join us at the Museum of the City of New York to dive into exhibits on cultural movements, trailblazing change-makers, and iconic artistry that define the city.   • Empowering Community and Climate: Latinx Leaders on the Frontlines (Hybrid). Don’t miss this panel from the Columbia Climate School Office of Inclusive Excellence featuring Latinx leaders from the South Bronx and beyond who will discuss urgent climate justice challenges such as toxic site cleanups, food access, and community resilience.   • Speak Now: Celine Song (In-Person). Celine Song '14, director and writer of films such as Materialists and Past Lives returns to the School of the Arts for a conversation about her creative practice with her teacher, Theatre Professor Anne Bogart, as part of Dean Sarah Cole’s signature series, Speak Now.   • "It ain't Europe here: Theorizing Israel as a Middle Eastern Society" with Dr. Prof. Johannes Becke (Virtual). Dr. Prof. Johannes Becke joins the Institute for Israel and Jewish Studies to discuss Zionism in the wake of October 7th.   • Italian Academy Fellows’ Seminars – #3 (In-Person). Attend a seminar exploring how image reproduction opens new avenues for art historical inquiry at The Italian Academy. This discussion will be moderated by Alexander Alberro, Virginia Bloedel Wright '51 Professor of Art History at Barnard College, and joined by Judith Delfiner of University Paris Nanterre, and Claudia Wedepohl of The Warburg Institute, University of London.   • IIJS Book Talk: "Songs for the Brokenhearted" with Ayelet Tsabari (In-Person). Hear from Ayelet Tsabari, author of Songs for the Brokenhearted, as she reflects on how growing up Yemeni in Israel has shaped her writing and research, and the ways identity, language, and heritage influence her craft.   • Connect with the Ombuds Office. The Ombuds Office provides a safe and confidential space for faculty, students, staff, and affiliates to talk through work-related issues, academic concerns, questions about policies, or other challenges.   • Get Informed with the Sexual Violence Response (SVR). SVR offers trauma-informed, confidential support and prevention programs dedicated to ending gender- and power-based violence.
