- Summer Fitness Class Series: Outdoor Yoga. Get moving with a fun in-person fitness class! The class will include a variety of bodyweight exercises to improve cardiovascular fitness, functional strength, core strength and posture. All fitness levels are welcome. - International Roundtable with Columbia Faculty. Join this Graduate Initiative roundtable to hear faculty discuss their experiences as international scholars acclimating to academia in the U.S. This event is for international graduate students or anyone interested in the topic, and is hosted in partnership with the International Students and Scholars Office, the Vice Provost for Faculty Advancement and the Global Centers. - Graduate Initiative: Financial Literacy Workshop. Are you struggling to budget your finances or gain financial freedom? Join this workshop on financial wellness with a focus on credit building and budgeting for graduate and professional students. Wednesday, 7/14, 4:00- 5:00 PM. Register here.
University-wide Events and Opportunities
- Arab Authors and Representations of Sexuality. This Global Centers webinar will bring together authors to reflect on their work and share their experiences with belonging, and the ways their work is advancing the discourse on LGBTQ+ rights. Wednesday, 7/7, 10:00-11:30 AM. Register here.
- Religion and the History of Hip Hop: 1970s-1990s. The first event in Part II of the Religion and the History of Black Music series covers the various ways that religion appeared in Hip Hop music as it was first emerging, as well as the response by religious leaders to the sounds of a new genre. - In the Skin of a Tiger: Monument to What We Want (Tugu Kita). In this participatory performance by artist Sharon Chin, presented by the Wallach Art Gallery, participants will sew personal missives on banners to create a monument symbolizing the collective hope and effort that leads to change.
