Rethinking Sex: Better than Consent

October 3, 2022
6:30 PM - 8:15 PM
America/New_York
Earl Hall, 2980 Broadway, New York, NY 10027 Dodge Room

Consent is the baseline for legal sex. But if "legal" is all we're asking for, the bar is on the floor. Has the current sexual culture lowered our standards?  How can we make our encounters not just consensual, but actually good?

Christine Emba is an Opinion columnist at The Washington Post focusing on ideas and society. Before joining the Post in 2015, Christine was the Hilton Kramer Fellow in Criticism at the New Criterion and a deputy editor at the Economist Intelligence Unit. She grew up in Virginia and holds an A.B. in Public and International Affairs from Princeton University. Rethinking Sex: A Provocation, published by Penguin Random House in Spring 2022, is her first book.

Rethinking Sex:  Better than Consent is co-hosted by the Center for Clinical Medical Ethics and the Office of Religious LIfe. This event will fulfill the requirement for the Sexual Respect Initiative component of the Community Citizenship Initiative under University Life. Please register and attend to receive credit.
