Jewish Identity and Antisemitism

December 8, 2025
2:00 PM - 3:30 PM
America/New_York
Lerner Hall, 2920 Broadway, New York, NY 10027 Broadway Room

Through interactive discussions and reflection, this workshop explores the roots and modern realities of Jewish identity and antisemitism. We’ll look at the diversity of Jewish experiences—religious and secular, Ashkenazi and Sephardic—and how understanding that diversity complicates simple narratives about the Jewish community today.

The session will address questions like: What is antisemitism? How is it different from criticism of Israel? How do freedom of speech and academic freedom come into play? Students will leave with a deeper understanding of Jewish identity, practical tools for addressing antisemitism, and resources for continued learning. All students are welcome.

This session is a part of the Community Citizenship Initiative (CCI) and is designed for first semester students. Students attending this workshop will receive credit for CCI and will have their requirement considered complete.

Registration needed, CUID required.

To support participants’ and the facilitator’s safety, only those registered for the event will be admitted. Registration will close several days in advance. Participants should also expect to check their bags and coats with event staff prior to entering the room.
