Islamophobia and the Challenge of Inclusion

November 17, 2025
10:00 AM - 11:30 AM
America/New_York
Earl Hall, 2980 Broadway, New York, NY 10027 Schiff Room

In this workshop, we will explore definitions of Islamophobia, its manifestations, and the distinctions between interpersonal and structural forms. The discussion will highlight the intersections of race and religion, focusing on how these dynamics produce structural Islamophobia, fuel anti-Muslim and anti-Arab racism, deny the diverse history of Muslims in the U.S., and impact advocacy. Participants will come away with increased awareness and knowledge of Islamophobia and how to recognize it, and their role in creating an inclusive campus environment.

This session is a part of the Community Citizenship Initiative (CCI) and is designed for first semester students. Students attending this workshop will receive credit for CCI and will have their requirement considered complete.

Registration needed, CUID required.

To support participants’ and the facilitator’s safety, only those registered for the event will be admitted. Registration will close several days in advance. Participants should also expect to check their bags and coats with event staff prior to entering the room.
