AI is rapidly becoming embedded in healthcare, from clinical documentation tools to diagnostic support and predictive analytics. At the same time, provider burnout remains a persistent and growing issue, driven by administrative burden, system inefficiencies, and emotional strain. This raises an important question: can AI meaningfully alleviate burnout, or does it risk further distancing providers from patients?
In this conversation, we will examine a major tension in contemporary healthcare: how the integration of AI shapes both provider experience and patient care. Rather than framing AI as inherently “good” or “bad,” we will explore the conditions under which AI may reduce burnout, as well as the ways it may contribute to depersonalization or inequities in care. Through discussion, participants will consider how design, implementation, and broader health system structures influence whether AI supports or undermines human-centered medicine.
