Welcome back! Winter Wellness Days and more

January 27, 2018

Welcome to the spring semester and to all the possibilities of the new year!

Get ready for Winter Wellness Days – Mon. Jan. 29 through Fri. Feb. 2 – So much to choose from – come and hear anxiety expert Dr. Anne Marie Albano, take workshops on time and stress management, personal finance, or helping a friend who may be in distress, or choose a fun study break with classic games, pet therapy, plants and free doughnuts or bubble tea. Get more details and register here.

Want to organize your own well-being event? Apply for a mini-grant with your student organization to host events throughout the semester. (Submit by January 25 to include your event in Winter Wellness Days!) Get involved and learn more here.

Community Citizenship Film Screening – Thursday, Feb. 15 @ 6pm – See the Golden Globe nominee and widely acclaimed horror/comedy “Get Out,” followed by a stellar panel discussion. Free. Miller Theater. Register here.

Join the Student Survey Leadership team. Columbia has teamed up with the World Health Organization to do a University-wide survey this spring of all students on our campus climate and student well-being. More to come on this – in the meantime, we’re looking NOW for students to lead the survey team. Learn more and apply here.

I am also so glad to welcome Columbia’s new Muslim Life Coordinator to our community. Amina Darwish joins the Office of the University Chaplain and will work closely with Columbia’s Muslim community members and with all at Columbia to promote greater understanding and fellowship among members of different religious, spiritual, and ethical traditions at Columbia.

Stay tuned for more throughout the semester! And, as always, we welcome your ideas for events, campus conversations and new projects for the new year.

Yours truly,

Professor Suzanne B. Goldberg
Executive Vice President for University Life
Herbert and Doris Wechsler Clinical Professor of Law, Columbia Law School
