Columbia Law School Immigrants’ Rights Clinic Defense Initiative
The Columbia Law School Immigrants’ Rights Clinic provides free, confidential advice and representation to Columbia students and staff at risk of deportation in the United States who have DACA, who are otherwise undocumented (with or without pending immigration applications or cases), or who have immigration status but are at risk of deportation.
Pro-Bono Legal Consultation and Other Assistance
Students at Columbia University can work directly with a lawyer on immigration-related issues at no cost, thanks to arrangements the University has made for pro-bono legal consultation, if you would like more information about this service, please reach out to [email protected].
Support from Counseling & Psychological Services (Columbia Health)
Students who are concerned about immigration policies affecting DACA and undocumented students can seek support from Counseling & Psychological Services (CPS). CPS offers confidential individual therapy as well as support groups for mutual support and stress management strategies. CPS provides a confidential and safe space for students to voice their thoughts and feelings. Specifically, the Trauma Support Team at CPS supports students with concerns related to experiencing stressors due to adverse events. The team has clinicians who specialize in immigrant experience and new American/first-generation identity development, among many other psychological and social concerns.
Please refer to the CPS website or contact the CPS office for up-to-date information regarding group offerings. To contact the CPS front desk call 212-854-2878.
