University Life Events & Opportunities
All events listed below are in Eastern Time (ET), free, and open to all students across all schools and campuses.
- Low Lounge: Snowplace Like Low (In-Person). Celebrate the end of the fall semester at the 8th annual Low Lounge: Snowplace Like Low, co-sponsored by the Columbia Alumni Association and the International Students and Scholars Office. This winter event is the perfect way to unwind, enjoy treats and student performances, and soak up some seasonal cheer with friends. TODAY, December 9, 3:00 - 7:00 p.m. Learn more.
- Yoga Class (In-Person). Take a break to relax and refresh with yoga in Earl Hall. Please bring your own mat and arrive 10 minutes early to set up; doors close at 6:35 p.m. Thursday, December 11, 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. Register here.
- Low Library Rotunda: Study Days (In-Person). Looking for a change of scenery while you study for finals? Settle in and power through at Low Rotunda. Enter through the front door, make yourself comfortable, and enjoy a rare chance to study somewhere unexpected. December 10 - 19, 12:00 - 9:00 p.m. Learn more.
- Earl Hall: Study Days (In-Person). Need a peaceful space to study this finals season? Earl Hall Auditorium will be available starting today and lasting through the end of term. Tea and snacks will be available while supplies last. December 9 - December 17, Times Vary. Learn more.
- Fill the Pantry Fridays at Community Impact. Help us keep every shelf stocked! The Community Impact Food Pantry is accepting donations to support our neighbors. If you’re able, please consider donating canned and dried goods to help make sure no one goes without. Fridays, 12:00 - 2:00 p.m. Learn more.
- Stuff a Shelf, Not Just the Turkey. This year, CSSI is hosting a “Cansgiving Drive” to support students facing food insecurity. Your donations will help create meal kits for students featuring a variety of cuisines and dishes. For ideas on what to give, check out our general meal kit suggestions or holiday-themed options. - Interested in working with University Life? Build your skills and expand your network by joining University Life as an Events Coordinator. This in-person, part-time role offers hands-on experience and flexible hours. Learn more.

- Springsteen & Dylan: Two Iconic Albums at 50 (In-Person). Jeremy Dauber, Eric Alterman, and Sam Sussman celebrate the legacies of Bruce Springsteen and Bob Dylan in honor of the 50th anniversaries of their iconic albums. Thursday, December 11, 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. Register here.
- Listening Tables Meet & Greet (In-Person). Learn more about the Listening Tables, and the introduction of a new program, the Listening Tables Ambassadors, an opportunity for interested students to get involved, participate in research around dialogue, and expand the initiative’s footprint on campus. Campus Resources to Support You
- Get Support over Winter Break. Columbia offers a variety of ways to support your mental and emotional well-being this winter season. Through Columbia Health’s Alice! Health Promotion (Morningside and Manhattanville) and Student Health on Haven Wellbeing (CUIMC), you can access independent resources that focus on stress management, self-care, resilience, and overall wellness.
- Submit your “Bright Spots” Story. Professor Peter Coleman, Director of the Morton Deutsch International Center for Cooperation and Conflict Resolution, is inviting students to share their unique experiences as an ongoing process in continuing to foster a welcoming, inclusive, and compassionate Columbia culture. *Please take this one-question survey by December 31, 2025.
