Staying Safe and Well During Break

November 18, 2021

Dear Students,

Next week marks the beginning of the 2021 holiday season and with many of you traveling during this time, I wanted to provide you with some resources to make this time less stressful and more restful.

Keeping Your Space and Calming Your Mind

With the return to pre-pandemic travel numbers, the holidays this year may feel challenging. If you’re feeling uneasy about traveling or are just curious about how best to keep yourself and others safe, this short quiz from The Washington Post can help you learn more about how to celebrate safely this year.

When you travel, I also want to take a moment to urge you to maintain the same caution you’ve practiced on campus this semester. While not all airports require masks, I hope that you will continue to wear your mask in these spaces, particularly during this busy time.

In addition to physical methods of staying safe, meditation apps such as Headspace or Calm can provide you with tailored meditations whenever you need to find a moment to create space for yourself. Both offer free trials as well as student rates.

Finally, please take a moment to review the University’s Fall 2021 Travel Restrictions, as well as the CDC’s recommendations for holiday travel and gatherings to help you plan.

Reminder: Flu Shot Requirement

Please note that the flu shot is mandatory for all students, and proof of vaccination must be uploaded by November 30—that leaves you just a few days before break to get your shot! You can get your flu shot from any provider, just be sure to get proof of vaccination.
