Fall Health Updates and Well-Being Opportunities

September 30, 2021

Dear Students,

First and foremost, I want to pause and express my gratitude to all of you for your diligence in keeping our community healthy. I am proud of how hard we are all working to keep each other and our neighbors safe.

Currently, 99.7% of our Columbia community is in compliance with the vaccine mandate, and the number of COVID-19 cases remains small. With over 40,000 people returning to the Columbia community, this is no small feat!

Since last week, some of you have reached out to ask about any spread of COVID-19 through social gatherings this semester. I want to clarify that any social events connected to the transmission of COVID-19 have been informal--not University run events. In these instances, students did not follow the Compact, most notably by not wearing masks indoors.

University Life and Columbia’s schools and centers continue to plan fun events that both follow public health guidelines and prioritize your safety. Please don’t hesitate to let us know if you have any questions regarding our safety protocols for events.

If you would like to know more about COVID-19 positivity rate on campus, you can always find updated information on the COVID-19 site, as well as NYC rates.

As we move into October and the weather changes, it is key that we keep wellness - both mental and physical - top of mind. Please reach out for help any time you or someone you care about might need it.
