Dear Students,
There are a number of exciting virtual events coming up, including a film screening, panel and virtual walking tour to celebrate Black History Month.
University Life Events and Opportunities (All events are ET)
- Graduate Success Workshop: Assembling Your Mentoring Squad. In this workshop you will learn tools to cultivate relationships to take your work to the next level. Thursday, 2/11, 4-5 PM.
- University Life Events Council Info Session. Enjoy planning events and meeting new people? Join the University Life Events Council! Attend an information session to learn more.
- Guided Meditation Workshop. Relieve stress and anxiety through a series of guided meditations led by Counseling and Psychological Services. Wednesday, 2/17, 10-11 AM.
- Black History Month Film Screening: BlacKkKlansman. The University Life Events Council invites you to a virtual screening of Spike Lee's BlacKkKlansman, named one of the best films of 2018. Saturday, 2/20, all day.
Other Events and Opportunities
- Black Heritage: Narratives on History, Belonging, and Activism. This panel, hosted by the School of Social Work's Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, shares authentic narratives of Black and African-American experiences to counter dominant narratives that perpetuate the stigmatization and oppression of Black & African-American folx. Wednesday, 2/10, 12-1:30 PM.
- Walking Tour of Historic Harlem (Virtual Adventure). With an emphasis on the Harlem Renaissance, explore the history, architecture and people of one of NYC’s most remarkable neighborhoods. Wednesday, 2/10, 5-6 PM.
- 2021-2022 Fellowship to the Undergraduate Committee on Global Thought. Students from Columbia College, the School of General Studies, the School of Engineering and Applied Science, and Barnard College are invited to apply to become Bartsch Fellows to the UCGT.
- Optimizing Federal & Local Public Health Systems for the Next Pandemic, part of the Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health Grand Rounds. Thursday, 2/11, 11:30 AM-12:30 PM.
- Nonprofit Policy and Advocacy in Action: The Path Ahead. Join the School of Professional Studies for the last event in their Nonprofits & Election 2020 series as policy experts from the nonprofit and philanthropic communities analyze strategic goals, next steps, and lessons learned. Thursday, 2/11, 6-7:30 PM.
- Identity and Inclusion Series: CU Safe Zone. CU Safe Zone is a training session that provides foundational knowledge to support and act in solidarity with LGBTQ+ communities. Friday, 2/12, 12-2 PM.
- Columbia Health Ongoing Support Groups. These support groups, created in response to student concerns, address issues like bereavement, building resilience during the pandemic, coping with trauma and more. Learn more.
