Success Workshop: Navigating Disability Disclosure Conversations

February 5, 2026
12:00 PM - 1:30 PM
America/New_York
Butler Library, 535 W. 114 St., New York, NY 10027 203

Join The Graduate Initiative, in collaboration with Columbia Health Disability Services, for an interactive discussion on navigating disability disclosure conversations.

Led by Michele McGrath and Daryl Axelrod, this workshop is designed to support and empower you if you’re unsure about how, when, or whether to disclose a disability. Together, we’ll explore strategies and practical tips for approaching these conversations with faculty and future employers, as well as in other professional settings, with confidence and clarity.

You’ll leave with concrete tools and language to help you navigate conversations on your own terms.

*You do not need to disclose any personal information to attend — including diagnosis or documentation. This gathering is about centering autonomy, community, and mutual support for one another.

Registration needed, CUID required.

This event is part of The Graduate Initiative for Inclusion and Engagement and was designed with the needs of students from backgrounds historically facing barriers to higher education in mind, including BIPOC and first-generation students. All students are welcome.
