Grad Hangout: A Night on Broadway

October 29, 2026
5:30 PM - 9:00 PM
America/New_York
Kent Hall, 1140 Amsterdam Ave., New York, NY 10027

What happens when friendship, ambition, and cultural identity take center stage?

Join the Graduative Initiative for a night on Broadway to see Manhattan Theatre Club’s production of School Girls; Or, The African Mean Girls Play, a sharp, funny, and thought-provoking comedy that explores friendship, cultural identity, beauty standards, and belonging within a Ghanaian girl’s boarding school.

We’ll kick off the evening on campus with a light meal, good conversation, and a little community-building around the play’s themes. Then, we’ll head downtown for a night of theater, culture, laughter, and new perspectives.

Take a break from the usual grad-school routine and experience New York City’s vibrant arts and cultural scene with your fellow grad students. Come connect, explore, laugh and enjoy a night on Broadway!

The Graduate Initiative for Inclusion and Engagement supports graduate and professional students through programs designed to reflect a wide range of lived experiences and perspectives. Designed with the needs of students who may have overcome barriers to higher education in mind, the initiative creates spaces for connection, learning, and growth. All students are welcome.

*Students should plan to meet staff at the Morningside Campus. Location will be provided to confirmed attendees before the event. We will travel downtown together via the MTA subway. Please note we are unable to cover transportation fares.

Registration is required, CUID holders only. If you are added to the waitlist, University Life will email you if a spot becomes available.
