On January 13, 2018 the Department of Homeland Security announced it will resume the application renewal process for DACA students. This announcement is in response to U.S. District Judge William Alsup’s ruling on January 9, 2018, which stated President Trump did not have the authority to rescind parts of the DACA program. The Department’s announcement represents a window of opportunity for DACA students to apply for renewal of their status; however, it remains uncertain how long the opportunity will be available.
In light of this announcement and the rapid pace of DACA developments, we encourage students with DACA to apply for renewal as soon as possible. As a reminder, the University has arranged for DACA students to receive free legal services.
