The Food Pantry at Columbia Winter Break 2024-25 Operations Note

The Food Pantry at Columbia will be closed during Winter Break and will reopen at the beginning of the Spring semester. Spring 2025 hours of operation will be announced shortly. For additional assistance over the Winter Break, we have listed resources that can be found in the local Morningside community as well as throughout New York City:

  • Food Pantries through New York City Gov: Find local food pantries in your area by borough. Contact information and addresses are provided. Please call or reach out to confirm schedule, availability and eligibility requirements.
     
  • Find Help NYC : Find local food pantries in your area by Zip code. Contact information and addresses are provided. Please call or reach out to confirm schedule, availability and eligibility requirements. 
     
  • Food Bank for New York City: Find local food pantries in your area by Zip code. Additionally, Food Bank for New York City offers a mobile food pantry that you are able to sign up for text messages to receive updates about the hours of operation and location of their next pop-up. 
     
  • City Harvest: City Harvest offers a food map where you are able to view soup kitchens, food pantries, mobile markets and community partner distributions near your local area.
     
  • Plentiful: Find food pantries in your local area and reserve a time to visit and get the food that you need. 
     
  • Broadway Community, Inc.: Broadway Community, Inc. team is able to provide accompaniment to appointments, and help folks obtain vital documents and benefits (like Medicaid, SNAP, SSI, and Cash Assistance). They accept walk-ins on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 10:00am to 2:00pm. They can also work with people on an appointment basis.   • mRelief: mRelief is a SNAP eligibility tool that utilizes easy, accessible outreach to assess social services needs. Additionally, it can connect folks directly with community based organizations that assist with applications for SNAP, cash assistance and other programs. 
     
  • Community Food Connection: Get groceries from a food pantry or a cooked meal from a community kitchen. Text 311 or use the Food Help NYC map or call 311 to find your closest food pantry and community kitchen. 
     
  • SNAP: The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) issues electronic benefits that can be used like cash to purchase food.
