Annual Reports from EOAA and Gender-Based Misconduct Prevention and Response

November 14, 2018

Dear fellow members of the Columbia community,

We write to share two important reports – the first annual report of the Office of Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action (EOAA) and the fifth annual report on Gender-Based Misconduct Prevention and Response from the Office of Student Conduct and Community Standards.

Each report provides data on Columbia’s efforts to prevent and respond to discrimination, harassment, sexual assault and other gender-based misconduct.  The EOAA report includes information about enforcement of policies that apply to faculty and staff, while the Student Conduct and Community Standards report addresses our student policies and resources.  EOAA's report also includes data on violations of the University's policies regarding consensual relationships between faculty, staff, and students.  You can find more information on those policies here.  To discuss the reports, please be in touch with Heather Parlier (EOAA) at [email protected] or Jeri Henry (Student Conduct and Community Standards) at [email protected].

The aim of both reports is to engage our University community – students, faculty and staff – in creating a climate where all can study, work, and live free from gender-based misconduct and other forms of discrimination and harassment.  You can always find more information; resource links for students, faculty and staff; and a "report an incident" button on University Life's website:  universitylife.columbia.edu

We welcome your thoughts and ideas.

Sincerely,

John Coatsworth and Suzanne Goldberg
