Dear Students,

We’re nearing the end of the semester, but there are still many great events and opportunities for you. Practice self-care by joining one of the wellness workshops, sharing a favorite recipe, and enjoying some laughter with a virtual comedy show.

University Life Events and Opportunities (All events are ET)  

  • Cooking Around the World: Recipe Swap Sign-up Form. Share recipes from around the world with the global Columbia community! All students who participate will be entered to win fun prizes like gift cards and cooking tools. Monday, 11/30 to Wednesday, 12/9.
  • The Quest for Quality Sleep: Sleep 101. Join Alice! Health Promotion and learn how to improve sleep quality and establish healthy sleep practices in any setting. Monday, 12/7, 4-5 PM.
  • Mindfulness: Wellness Workshop. Join to learn mindfulness practices to help you pause and reset for the day. Wednesday, 12/9, 12-1:15 PM.
  • Apply for a Racial Justice Mini-Grant and share innovative ideas to address racism, particularly anti-Black racism. Applications due by 5 PM on Friday, 12/11.
  • Comedy in Quarantine. Join the University Life Events Council and Third Wheel Improv virtually for a night of laughs with comedian Arvin Mitchell! Tuesday, 12/15, 7-8 PM.
  • The Inclusive Public Safety Working Group invites you to share your ideas, experiences or feedback about public safety at Columbia. Fill out this form and send us your suggestions, feedback and insights.

Other Events and Opportunities

  • The Tamer Center for Social Enterprise presents Social Enterprise Conference, Capital for Good, Friday, 12/4, 11 AM-12 PM.
  • Columbia SIPA/EI/Mailman Weekly Seminar: COVID-19 and Climate Change. Elke Weber, Robert Keohane, Sara Constantino and Alicia Cooperman will discuss COVID-19 and Climate Change. Wednesday, 12/9, 1-2 PM.
  • The School of Professional Studies is hosting the next event in their DEI series, Leading Towards Diversity, Equity and Inclusion: Implementing Systemic Change, Wednesday, 12/9, 3:30-5 PM.
  • Congressional Internship Information Session. Learn the application basics to get you started on the path towards a rewarding internship experience on Capitol Hill or in the White House this summer. Thursday, 12/10, 4-5 PM.
  • The Columbia Community Service 74th Annual Appeal has a commitment to generate support from the Columbia community for food security, health and education services in Harlem and Morningside Heights.
  • Clinton Foundation’s Clinton Global Initiative University (CGI U) will host its annual virtual meeting this spring. Student leaders from around the world will join President Clinton and Chelsea Clinton to engage with a wide range of topic experts, leaders, and innovators to discuss how to turn their ideas into action. Apply by Friday, January 15, 2021.
