Yifei Xu: “The Other End…” — Music for Piano & Electronics

Pianist Yifei Xu has been described as an “incredibly passionate and logical pianist” and “an amazing demonstration of prodigious skills.” She has performed at the Norfolk Chamber Music Festival New Music Workshop as a fellow, the Aspen Music Festival, Bang on a Can, the Mostly Modern Festival, the Almalfi Coast Piano Festival, and at various venues including Carnegie Hall, Alice Tully Hall, Merkin Concert Hall, Bargemusic, and others. Winner of the Mostly Modern Festival concerto competition, Vivo International Music Competition, she has also received the Roy M. Rubinstein Award and was honored by the Eisenberg/Fried Concerto Competition. Career highlights include performing Rautavaara’s Piano Concerto No. 1 with the American Modern Orchestra and Gershwin’s Piano Concerto in F with Austin Symphony Orchestra. Xu specializes in contemporary piano performance and is a member of the BlackBox Ensemble. She has also played with the American Modern Ensemble, Infrasound Ensemble, and others. She earned her Bachelor and Master of Music degrees at Manhattan School of Music, and is currently completing her Doctoral of Musical Arts degree there, studying with Dr. Marc Silverman. She is on the collaborative piano faculty at the Mostly Modern Festival since 2023.
