Sexual Assault Awareness Month: Understanding the Columbia Landscape, Moving Toward Change

Join Columbia’s leading researchers and campus experts in prevention and response for a presentation and discussion of the Sexual Health Initiative to Foster Transformation (SHIFT), a comprehensive research project at Columbia on the many factors that influence sexual health and sexual violence among undergraduates. The SHIFT team has published more than a dozen scientific papers sharing their findings and analysis and have been featured in The New Yorker, Teen Vogue and other publications worldwide.

Featured speakers include:

  • Jennifer Hirsch, Professor of Sociomedical Sciences, Mailman School of Public Health
  • Claude Ann Mellins, Professor of Medical Psychology (in Psychiatry and Sociomedical Sciences), Mailman School of Public Health
  • Shamus Khan, Professor of Sociology and Chair of the Sociology Department

Campus experts including La’Shawn Rivera, Executive Director of Sexual Violence Response, Scott Wright, Vice President for Campus Services, Marjory Fisher, Columbia’s Title IX Coordinator will also share their insights and interesting additional data about Columbia's landscape. Suzanne Goldberg, Executive Vice President for University Life, will welcome and moderate the workshop and discussion. Lunch will be served. Please bring your CUID.
