Where Harlem Becomes Manhattanville: Join us for a discussion about the complicated relationship between Harlem and Columbia University. In our conversation, we will move past the campus gates and into the social and physical landscape of West Harlem to examine the University’s impact on the historic neighborhood. This internal reflection might cause participants to ask about what it means to attend a university that exists within a historic neighborhood like Harlem? How might our understanding of campus change when we look beyond the gates? We’ll reflect on who might not be in the room and see where the conversation takes us.

This program is part of University Life's Campus Conversations program which is a designed to bring students together across differences through dialogue led by their peers. These conversations are selected and facilitated by graduate students across Columbia's graduate and professional schools. All students are welcome to attend.
