This year, we are hosting the Cansgiving Drive to meet urgent community needs before the holidays. The Cansgiving Drive invites everyone to join in the spirit of giving by donating unexpired, non-perishable food items and meal kits to help stock the Food Pantry at Columbia and support students in need.
Together, we can make a meaningful difference, one shelf at a time.
Acceptable Donation Items:
- Peanut butter (and other kinds of nut butters)
- Canned soup (any kind!)
- Canned fruit
- Canned vegetables
- Canned stew
- Canned fish (tuna, salmon, or any other variety)
- Canned meats (chicken and other canned proteins)
- Canned beans (garbanzo, pinto, pigeon peas or gandules, and any other bean variety)
- Pasta (rigatoni, linguine, tagliatelle, shells, elbow, any dry pasta!)
- Rice (brown, white, Jasmine, basmati, and other )
- Quinoa
- Barley
- Flour
- Oil (canola, vegetable)
Please note that we only accept non-expired and unopened non-perishable food items.

DROP-OFF LOCATIONS
Drop-off bins are conveniently located at three campus locations, making it easy for you to contribute during your day. Every can, box, and meal kit helps us “stuff a shelf” and bring comfort to our neighbors this season.
If you are gathering canned donations through an office or department, please drop off your donations to the following drop-off locations.
Morningside: Lerner Hall 5th Floor, Room 582
Hours of Operation: Building hours are subject to change due to university holidays, semester breaks, and other circumstances.
Morningside: Watson Hall, 612 W 115th St, 8th floor
Hours of Operation: Weekdays from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM
CUIMC: 50 Haven Ave Room 103
