Support for Students with Ties to Mexico

The following message was sent from International Students and Scholars Office Director and Associate Provost David Austell to students from Mexico:

I am reaching out to you to express concern regarding today's devastating earthquake in Morelos state, and the effect this may be having on you.  Please know that the Columbia community is thinking of you and your families at home, and that the ISSO team stands ready to assist you in any way during this time.

In addition to your own school-based Dean of Students, here are just a few of the immediate resources available to you at Columbia:

HEALTH AND WELLNESS

Columbia Counseling and Psychological Services:

  • Students based at the Morningside Campus who are interested in meeting with a counselor should call Counseling and Psychological Services at (212) 854-2878.   
  • Students at the CUMC Campus, call Mental Health Services at (212) 305-3400.  
  • Students currently abroad, call International SOS and ask to speak to an Enhanced Emotional Support Counselor at (215) 942-8478

SAFETY AND SECURITY 

  • Students currently abroad should call the local equivalent of 911, and then call International SOS at (215) 942-8478.
