Welcome to the Spring 2023 semester! Wherever you are in your Columbia journey, we wish you a successful semester to come, and we are glad you’re here.

This week we are hosting Welcome Home Columbia, a series of events happening January 17-20th. Whether you are a new or returning student, we hope you’ll join us to kick off your semester. Check out the events we’ll be hosting below.

Events listed below are always free and open to all students across all schools and campuses. Just bring your CUID!

Welcome Home Columbia 

Welcome Affinity Spaces

Affinity spaces are meant to be informal and casual, and all students are welcome to attend!

  • BIPOC Affinity Space (In-Person). This affinity space will bring BIPOC students together to network, engage and socialize. Tuesday, January 17, 12:00 - 1:00 PM. Register here.
  • LGBTQ+ Affinity Space (In-Person). This affinity space will bring LGBTQ+ students together to network, engage and socialize. Wednesday, January 18, 4:00 - 5:00 PM. Register here.
  • Disability Affinity Space (In-Person). This affinity space for the disability community will bring students together to network, engage and socialize. Thursday, January 19, 4:00 - 5:00 PM. Register here.

  • Trivia Table (In-Person). Stop by our table in Butler Library to see how much you know about Columbia University and try your luck at answering one of our trivia questions! Tuesday, January 17, 12:00 - 4:00 PM. Register here.
  • Pin Your Columbia Pride (In-Person). Design your own school-spirit themed button and enter our button design competition for a chance to win University Life swag. Tuesday, January 17, 5:00 - 6:00 PM. Register here. 
  • Financial Well-being: Q&A Session (Virtual). Student Financial Services is partnering with University Life to answer your questions about financial aid, budgeting, and University resources. Share your questions when you register or ask anonymously during the session. January 18, 12:00 - 1:00 PM. Register here.
  • Virtual Speed Friending (In-Person). Meet new people, make connections, and take part in group activities for a chance to win swag. Wednesday, January 18, 6:00 - 7:30 PM. Register here. 
  • Letter to Myself Workshop (In-Person). Meet students from across the university as you get creative and share your aspirations for the year ahead. Thursday, January 19, 12:00 - 1:30 PM. Register here. 
  • Disability Affinity Space (In-Person). This affinity space for the disability community will bring students together to network, engage and socialize. All students are welcome. Thursday, January 19, 4:00 - 5:00 PM. Register here. 
  • Yoga Class (In-Person). Take a break to relax with yoga in Earl Hall, hosted by Religious Life every Thursday. Please bring your own mat and arrive 5-10 minutes early to sign in and set up. Thursday, January 19, 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM. Learn more.
  • Columbia Clue Chase (In-Person). Find QR codes and solve riddles to explore Columbia's incredible resources and learn about our Morningside and/or our CUIMC campuses. Find all the clues and you’ll win University Life swag and other prizes. Friday, January 20, 9:30 AM - 4:30 PM. Register here.
  • Day of Service: Free Minds Poem Review (In-Person). Meet and connect with Poet Ambassadors from Free Minds Book Club to read and offer feedback on poems written by incarcerated and formerly incarcerated youth and young adults. Friday, January 20, 12:00 - 2:00 PM. Register here.
