Creating Your Study Space and Commencement Policies

May 05, 2022

Dear Students,

Many of us are in the midst of study days, final exams, and preparing for Commencement. I hope that you are taking care of yourself during this time.

Creating a Study Space That Works for You

It can be difficult to focus when your workspace isn’t working for you. Here are a few tips for creating a study space to help maximize your productivity:

  • Set a timer for five minutes and tidy up your workspace as much as possible before the timer ends. You might be surprised at how much you can accomplish in a short amount of time.
  • Minimize distractions by putting your phone in a drawer or another room during times of intense focus.
  • Remember to take breaks! No matter how clean your workspace is, your mind can only handle so much information at a time. Taking adequate breaks is just as important as studying.

Need a change of scenery? Religious Life is hosting quiet spaces in Earl Hall for studying through May 12. Tea and snacks are provided. Breathing Space—open space to vent or relax—is also available in Earl Hall today and tomorrow from 3:00-6:00 PM.
