“The Spirit of Beings” is a tribute to Dai Fujikura in honor of his vast contributions to the contemporary cello repertoire. The title piece, “The Spirit of Beings” tells the story of a soul which travels through creation, life, and eternity. I feel that each piece on the program also has a “soul” that follows a similar architecture. Each one of these pieces spark and flicker through their own unique journeys, coalescing into an unending spirit of creativity. Also featured is a brief gem by Tanner Porter, “And Even These Small Wonders.”
Jordan Bartow is a cellist residing between South Carolina and New York. Noted for his “booming resonance” by icareifyoulisten.com, He is especially dedicated to the development, and performance of contemporary music. Upcoming projects include a residency at Mannes and a collaboration with the Noguchi Museum in Queens, New York.
