A working group on Columbia Law School and the Legacies of Slavery has been conducting research for the last two years on the issue of CLS faculty & students, our curriculum, student prizes, faculty chairs, law school buildings, financing, and other dimensions of Columbia Law School and its relationship to the institution of slavery and its legacies.  Students, faculty, research librarians, and others have contributed to this important research project. We are the first unit of Columbia University to undertake this kind of examination of our past, and we are the first professional school to do so anywhere.

A summary of our research is available here (access it using your uni).

The CLS and the Legacies of Slavery working group, BLSA, and NALSA invite you to attend (either in person in JGH 102A or via Zooma Community Town Hall on Wednesday, April 6th from 6:00pm-9:00pm at which we will discuss:

1. The research conducted so far; and

2. What actions we might consider taking to institutionally engage with and respond to this history.

A light dinner and drinks will be available from 6:00 to 6:30pm, with the formal program - including a video presenting highlights of our research findings - beginning at 6:30pm.
