Join us for a unique preview of Columbia University Summer Session courses through our special multi-part lecture series. In this event, Lawrence Ian Reed, Ph.D., Lecturer in Psychology, will discuss Evolutionary Psychology, a discipline which focuses primarily on answering “why?” questions in psychology, instead of a more traditional exploration of "how" a system works, regarding the mechanisms that underlie behavior.

Dr. Reed is a lecturer in the Department of Psychology at Columbia University and a Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychology at New York University. He completed his clinical internship at McLean Hospital/Harvard Medical School in 2010. He is interested in basic and applied research related to facial expression, emotion, and cooperation. He has clinical experience treating clients across many diagnostic categories, age ranges, and ethnicities. He specializes in treating adolescents and adults with mood (e.g. depression and anxiety) and emotional disorders (i.e. borderline personality disorder). Many of his treatment methods are drawn from cognitive behavioral therapy and dialectical behavior therapy.

Representatives from the Columbia University Summer Session and from the Admissions team will also be available to answer questions about the upcoming Columbia University Summer Session, and how students may apply and enroll as a visiting or current Columbia student.
