Art Work: the journey from curation to development, and the changing cultures in making art

In recent years there have been consistent calls for more equitable practices across industries. The revaluation of labor has produced radical shifts in corporate sectors, education, the health sector, and the arts have also experienced calls for revisions to existing structures of production and presentation. This talk will focus on the kinds of changes that are being asked for in terms of equity, diversity and inclusion in the performing and visual arts, how they are being implemented, who is participating in those dialogues, and the kinds of obstacles that are preventing effective change.

The goal of this event is to foster a dialogue that frames these changes with a positive lens to enable a constructive discussion around equitable pay structures and hiring practices, authorship, and most importantly, how funding models, boards, and development strategies intersect with the realities that artists face in their practices and in their lives.
