Wellness Days @Columbia are a joint effort of students, faculty and staff, and are part of an ongoing focus on mental health, wellness and community citizenship at Columbia. These days are for coming together to raise awareness, support each other and relax and unwind. Below is a list of all the events that took place in 2018! 

Monday, January 29

Dough-Not Stress

Friend 2 Friend (Alice! Health Promotion)

Friend2Friend is Alice! Health Promotion’s skills-based training program designed to help Columbia students effectively recognize and respond to others exhibiting indicators of distress. Students can be a helper and connect peers to resources on- and off-campus. ThFe training is focused on understanding, re-framing, referring, and self-care.

Meditation Session (CUMC Center for Student Wellness)

Give your brain a break and a boost with a 20-minute meditation session. Meditating a few minutes a day can reduce stress and anxiety, sharpen memory and focus, and improve multitasking. More on the benefits of mindfulness here.

Road to Financial Awesomeness

Making informed choices about how to use available time can set the stage for academic success. Join Alice! Health Promotion in a discussion on factors that impact time-choice, managing time effectively, building a balanced schedule, and tools for overcoming procrastination.

Inclusive Classrooms Cafe

Join the Race, Ethnicity and Inclusion Task Force to "sip and share" your stories from the classroom. Come for coffee, chocolate, and conversation. We'll provide the lunch; you'll provide the stories. This is part of an ongoing effort to promote inclusivity in the classroom.

We will be discussing how to navigate care (interpersonally and institutionally) at Columbia, and discussing sustainable ways to be involved in organizing and justice efforts. We will also be doing crafts related to the theme of student health and wellness. All students welcome.
