Columbia University in the City of New York

The Arts Option invited students to creatively express their understanding of “sexual respect” in the context of Columbia.

The Office of University Life aims to create and and support University-level conversations, both in-person and online, about the pressing issues of our day and how they affect our own communities.

  • Awakening Our Democracy is our conversations series focused on race, ethnicity, disparities, justice and other issues at the forefront of the University’s and the nation’s consciousness.
  • The Sexual Respect and Community Citizenship Initiative asks students to reflect and act on the link between sexual respect and membership in the Columbia community.
  • Also in the works are more events like the 2015 Selma screening and conversation, and others -- part of the Office's Community Citizenship Series inviting discussion and reflection on how the world’s events reverberate within our own community and beyond.
