Serve Your Community

Working within the community surrounding Columbia’s campuses can be a vitally important part of University community membership. Each of Columbia’s schools offers many ways to get involved in and around New York City. Here are a couple of additional Columbia-based organizations that provide opportunities for community service:

  • Columbia Community Outreach coordinates Columbia University's largest day of community service, uniting students, faculty, and alumni volunteers at designated locations throughout New York City. Projects have included beautifying parks, serving in soup kitchens, assisting homeless shelters, and performing administrative work at neighboring schools.  Individuals interested in CCO 2015 may attend weekly meetings Tuesdays at 9pm in the Lerner West Ramp Lounge.

  • Community Impact serves individuals in need in the communities of Upper Manhattan while providing meaningful volunteering and leadership opportunities for students at Columbia University and Barnard College.
